With growing concern over the standards of management volunteers received after being placed at organisations, Wandsworth Volunteer Bureau in South London decided more control was needed. From here Investing in Volunteers was born – a standard measure to use to gauge how effectively organisations manage their volunteers.

Since then, through numerous successful trial across the country the Investing in Volunteers standard has been developed, and has been put to good use ensuring willing volunteers get the most out of their experience, whilst organisation make the most of generous amounts time and energy provided by volunteers.

Now, working alongside Volunteering England, VAK hopes to act as partner to Investing in Volunteering – sharing on our experiences of working with both budding volunteers and the organisation we’ve placed them at.
