Volunteers Need – National Children’s Centre

The National Children’s Centre are looking for volunteers to provide assistance in their new charity shop located within Brian Jackson House, Huddersfield. The role involves helping out with the sorting of clothes, making the shop look presentable, pricing up clothing and organising rails, customer service and possible marketing of the shop. Introduction To Volunteering Workshop 2012

Overseas Volunteering- Let’s Go (Yorkshire)

Let’s Go (Yorkshire) is an organisation that provides the chance for local young people (18 – 30) to do volunteering abroad, and for young people from abroad to come and volunteer with organisations here. They are currently working with an organisation based in Macedonia on a youth volunteering project that will take place early next year. The Macedonian organisation is called Volunteers Centre Skopje. They can provide 4 young people from Kirklees the chance to visit Macedonia for 2 months, travelling out in February or March 2012, to work as volunteers at the Volunteers Centre Skopje. New Luv2meetU Service

Luv2meetU is a new service designed to support adults with learning disabilities, helping them to enjoy a range of activities from bowling and swimming, to meals out and club nights.

As well as these events which run throughout the year, they offer a one to one dating service for their members. There are also numerous volunteering opportunities available.

On Thursday 8^th December they will host a launch party at Northorpe Hall, Mirfield. Anyone interested in the service, volunteering with Luv2meetU or attending the launch party can find more information at this website or by contacting Christine White on 07920835926.

Volunteers Needed – Matrix

Helping to meet the needs of young people in Mirfield, Matrix are looking for Volunteer Youth Workers to support and supervise activities such as arts & crafts (pencil drawing, canvas, graffiti projects), sports, cooking, dancing, walking and fishing. Volunteers must show an enthusiasm for working with young people and a willingness to learn. Ongoing training is provided. European Year Of The Volunteer 2011

With Health and Social Care being the focus of the European Year of the Volunteering during November and December 2011, the Gateway to Care Volunteer Service will be holding events to launch two new and exciting volunteering opportunities. They are looking to recruit Community and Domestic Violence Volunteers, and are based around providing support and care to the vulnerable. The first event will take place on Monday 21st November (10am – 12noon) at Voluntary Action Kirklees, Huddersfield, followed by an event on Monday 5th December (1pm -3 pm) at Batley Resource Centre.
